The Greater Stake

Where do you go
When the grass you walked on
The home you lived in-
Your best friends
No longer existed?

In this material world
You have to choose
Between right and wrong
And find out for yourself
What side of the line
Do you want to belong.

What do you do
When your old neighborhood dissipates
And shortly afterwards
Your memories of past
Start to escape.
You no longer have
Any friends
That you can turn to;
What you have instead
Is your Lord who has saved you.

Would you think the turn you took
Was a mistake?
On the other hand,
Realize what was at stake?

What if you found
The closeness of others
From your distant past
Did not last
Rather, they all turned on you
And did so,
Fast.

When you find yourself
In that place
Your first thought might be
You were betrayed
However, you will soon realize
You have been saved,
And are going the Lord’s way.
Hence, it is your friends
Going in the opposite direction,
Where their home
Is still a pathway to destruction
Yet, you are making it to heaven.
